In addition to the above list, here are a couple of items / notes that I strongly suggest:

  • Make sure that your hunting boots are comfortable and offer good cushioning. The countryside here is covered in worm casts and can be equated to walking on golf balls all day. Please make sure that your footwear offers enough “cushioning” to make your walks more comfortable!!
  • Camelback / Hydration reservoir. Although we always try and carry enough water with us on our hunts, when it gets hot into March especially, it is tough to carry sufficient water. Also, having your own water supply, one tends to drink a bit more readily, and this helps to avoid dehydration.
  • Ice Ties / Chilly Towels. The type of thing one soaks in water and then wears around ones neck to help cool you down, these can come in handy in the heat.
